Cycling in Athens
E-MAGAZINO

There is an alternative way to get around Athens historical and commercial centre, archaeological sites and entertainment spots, by bike. It’s easy, quick, it has fun and it’s safe. Extended pedestrian-only give a unique opportunity to everybody to enjoy cycling routes away from city’s traffic and noise. Dionysiou Areopagitou is ideal as a starting point. Passing in front of the New Acropolis Museum, leads to Thisseion, Ermou str, Agion Asomaton square, Kerameikos area, Gazi and “Technopolis” (approximately 2km).

Bicycle rentals organise guided tours around important monuments or if you prefer to explore the city centre alone, they will provide a map specially marked for bike tours.

If cycling in the city centre it’s not enough for you, using TRAM you can easily reach the coastal area. Starting from Floisvos marina you will enjoy a cycling route by the sea extending to Eden beach and Alimos marina. Further down the pavement gets narrow and if you are not an experienced cyclist we suggest you use TRAM until you reach Glyfada marinas. From Glyfada you can continue your journey by the sea as far as you feel like it, heading to Kavouri and Vouliagmeni. During this bike journey you will come along numerous cafes, restaurants and hotels with magnificent sea view.
