Among 3,800 Winners;
Full 2019 Dining Guide Revealed in Wine Spectator’s August Issue
Athens, July 17 2019 – The GB Roof Garden and Tudor Hall Restaurants have been honored for the sixth year in a row for their outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2019 Restaurant Awards. The restaurants are recognized among other winners from all over the globe as top destinations for wine lovers.
“We’re pleased to shine a spotlight on the destinations around the world that show devotion to their wine program, while also creating a comprehensive global dining guide for our readers to enjoy,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “Both novice wine lovers and seasoned sommeliers alike actively seek and frequent restaurants with exciting, well-curated wine lists. Bravo to all the 2019 recipients—we raise a glass to you.”
Once more this year, both restaurants received the ‘Best of Award of Excellence’, granted to 1244 restaurants in 2019, which recognizes restaurants that excel for offering more extensive selections with significant vintage depth and excellent breadth across multiple regions. The two restaurants are the only ones in Athens included in the Wine Spectator’s list for having one of the most exceptional restaurant wine lists in the world ideally matching the high quality menu and service offered.
Head Sommelier of the restaurants, Evangelos Psofidis, with a significant knowledge, distinctions and passion for wines and spirits, aims to display the largest wine-producing regions of the world through the restaurants’ wine lists. Thus, he chooses to incorporate into the awarded lists, wines that accurately represent the characteristics of these areas. Both restaurants follow the philosophy of ‘food pairing wine’ and believe that the ultimate culinary experience can be achieved when fine dishes are perfectly matched with high quality wines. This honor is an inspiration for further successes and recognizes the continuous effort of Hotel Grande Bretagne and King George for delivering exceptional services and products to their guests.
