Carnival Events 2014 20/2/2014 – 3/3/2014

Carnival time in Athens – Attica & Argosaronic is a period full of fun. Unique traditional customs spread around city centre, especially Plaka’s area where a real pagan driven fun occurs. Street musicians singing traditional “cantades” chorus singing operettas, traditional maypole and carnival disguised groups teasing people, a custom that is called “mpouloukia”.

The fest starts officially on Thursday, 20 February a day dedicated to grilled meat and continues until 3rd of March 2014 which is “Clean Monday” as we call it.

“Technopolis” is going to be this year’s kids place for fun and joy. Enjoy a stroll around the Industrial Gas Museum and be a part of workshops, maypole and carnival games. Other places for carnival joy, tradition, customs and stories are: Museum of Folk Art and Tradition “Aggeliki Hatzimichalis”, National Archaeological Museum garden, City Cultural Centre “Melina”.
