The Beloved Athenian Venue Returns, Classic and Majestic

The GB Roof Garden restaurant, on the top floor of the historic Hotel Grande Bretagne, a favorite destination in the world of gastronomy and cherished by visitors for years, has recently reopened following a stunning transformation.

The contemporary redesign and majestic atmosphere captivate guests from the very first moment. The new grand hall, featuring natural materials such as white marble and wood, adds depth to the space while preserving its authenticity. This new design also showcases one of the restaurant’s most remarkable features, its enchanting view of the Acropolis, ensuring that every guest can now enjoy the unparalleled view and the most attractive city’s landmarks from above.

The color palette is deeply classic, with fresh neutral tones and subtle touches of pink, green, and gold. These colors reflect the historical iconography of the city, combined with modern details and lively design elements inspired by Greek tradition, such as the attire of the Evzones. The selection of fabrics and elegant furniture creates a warm and welcoming interior, while the blend of architectural and decorative lighting enhances the sophisticated aesthetic.

The complete renovation of the restaurant was undertaken by the award-winning London-based interior design firm Goddard Littlefair, with a vision to enhance the visitor experience and the operational potential of this iconic venue. The interior designers approached the project with deep respect for the building’s architecture, breathing new life into this unique space within four months.

Since its inception, the cosmopolitan GB Roof Garden Restaurant has been a beacon of irresistible flavors, with its famous terrace hosting numerous distinguished personalities from around the world. It serves as an endless source of inspiration for Executive Chef Asterios Koustoudis, who has led the Hotel Grande Bretagne’s gastronomy in recent years, along with talented Chef De Cuisine Nikos Liokas and charismatic Pastry Chef Alexandros Koufas. Through the new “fine comfort” menu, they embody the connection between gastronomy and the essence of exceptional Greek hospitality, making every guest feel special. Using domestic products and fresh seasonal ingredients from Greek producers, they skillfully create imaginative dishes and nostalgic flavors that combine modern international culinary trends with Greece’s rich gastronomic heritage.

At the new impressive GB Roof Garden Bar, guests can enjoy refreshing cocktails and a delicious “bar food” menu against the backdrop of the Parthenon. The exotic open-air Bar8 offers summer escapes in the heart of the city with premium drinks, fusion Bar Bites, pop-jazz music and mesmerizing sunsets.
